Following Chinese premier Xi Jinping’s marathon speech yesterday we are excited to be the first to redefine the Asia-Pacific music map. The Turunn Tribune’s music correspondent Stig Huündersfløos provided this new lexicon for those wishing to stay current:
- C-Pop: Chinese-pop (state run)
- J-pop: Japanese pop
- K-Pop: Korean pop
- SCTTPKMCT-pop: Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu (Chinese Taipei) pop
Xi Jingping was insistent that Taiwan would never be allowed to continue with its current T-Pop moniker, and should always use its official Chinese title in all musical affairs.
